Rockford Lutheran Schools Academic RecognitionsStudents Awarded IL State Scholar Rockford Lutheran Schools is pleased to announce 18% of the 2008 graduating class were selected for the prestigious Illinois State Scholar Award. Recognized for outstanding academic achievement were:
Andrew Collier, Kelsey Cratty, Sean Denny, Michael Dobler, Heather Gill, Marissa Gruber, Alison Kopelman, Devin Long, Emma Nash, David Pearson, Nathan Rearden, Adam Russell, Shannon Soper, Britta Svoboda, Rebecca Warner, and Addison Youngblood
This award is given annually by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, which recognized 18,178 high school students from across the state as this year’s state scholars. Illinois state scholars rank in the top 10 percent of the state’s high school seniors from 711 high schools in 102 counties.
Kiwanis Award:The Downtown Kiwanis Club awarded Dawn Martin, Megan Hier, Amy Reithmier, and Megan Ford for service, leadership and ministry within their church. There were only 11 students recognized and 4 were from RLHS. Praise God for our students! The Purple Ink staff achieved a Bronze certificate and Kendall McCabe received honorable mention in Review Writing by the Northern Illinois School Press Association. 1st Place Award for Math TeamRockford Lutheran Students turned up the heat and placed 1st in the Math Science Bowl held at Concordia University in Chicago. Lutheran went on to win the championship by beating Decatur Lutheran 120-80. Team members were: Dawn Martin, Rose Moller-Jacobs, Mary Buzzard, Devin Long, Shannon Soper, Adam Russell, and Addison Youngblood. Not Pictured: Coach Doug Martin
Devin Long and Nathan Rearden have received the award of Commended Student for the National Merit Scholarship Program. They are among 34,000 recipients out of 1.4 million contestants. |
